Deferring

Our race staff understands that injuries, family emergencies, last minute business plans, and life in general can keep you from participating in our event after you’ve registered. Though we do not offer refunds, we do offer the option of “deferment” (running the following year’s race instead.). Please see below for the simple steps on how to complete this process.

Deferring 2017 to 2018

  • Click here to change your race status to “deferred”. You must use this online deferral link BEFORE RACE DAY (by midnight Friday, December 8th, 2017)
  • Once deferred, you will not be able to pick up your race packet for the 2017 race (t-shirt and bib.)
  • Participants that are in a deferral status are not automatically registered for the succeeding year.
  • Contact the race office after January 31, 2018 (Kiawah_Marathon@KiawahResort.com) to receive your deferral code.
  • Deferred runners must not register online for next year’s race until they have a deferral code. We are not able to offer refunds when a runner is eligible for a deferral code but registers on their own.
  • All runners who are eligible to defer are guaranteed entry into the succeeding race as long as they have followed the directions, completed the online liability waiver and paid the $45 admin fee by October 31st, 2018.
  • The deferments are only valid for 1 year – the year following the date of original race registration.
  • All 2017 complimentary entries and discounted race entry fees are not eligible for deferral.

2016 Deferred Runners Registering for 2017:

  • 2016 deferred runners should contact the race office at Kiawah_Marathon@KiawahResort.com after January 31st, 2017 for their deferral code.
  • Entry to 2017 is not automatic.
  • Do not register for 2017 online without your deferral code. We are not able to offer refunds when a runner is eligible for a deferral code but registers on their own.
  • Every runner must sign a 2017 Liability Waiver and pay the $45 administrative fee by October 31, 2017.
