Where is Kiawah Island Golf Resort Located?
Kiawah Island is a ten-mile island running parallel to the South Carolina coast. The island is a mere 21 miles from historic downtown Charleston, South Carolina. Kiawah consists of private homes and villas, miles of pristine private beach, five championship golf courses, tennis courts, paved walking trails, numerous outdoor nature activities including the resort itself.
What airport do I use? And how far are you from that airport?
The closest commercial airport to Kiawah Island Golf Resort is the Charleston International Airport (CHS). We are just 32 miles—around 40-45 minutes—from CHS. We do provide custom transportation to and from the airport at a very competitive rate. Additionally, the Charleston Executive Airport (JZI), located on nearby Johns Island, is a convenient option for travelers utilizing private jet services.
How far are you from downtown Charleston?
Kiawah Island Golf Resort is located just 21 miles from downtown Charleston.
How many golf courses do you have at the resort?
Kiawah Island Golf Resort has 5 Championship golf courses that span the island. This includes our signature course, The Ocean Course, which was the host of the 2012 PGA Championship and will once again welcome the world’s best for the 2021 PGA Championship in May.
Besides golf, what is there to do at the resort?
The resort offers an award-winning tennis compound with the Roy Barth Tennis Center, and both a tennis and golf-learning center. There are numerous eco tours, 36 miles of hike/bike trails, shopping, boating, fishing, team building, kayaking, canoeing, several pools and miles of beach to enjoy.
How much meeting and event space do you have?
We have more than 89,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space throughout the Resort, including more than 44,000 square feet at The Sanctuary and close to 18,000 square feet at The West Beach Conference Center. We have three golf clubhouses that host meeting and event space, as well.
Which restaurants have space for groups?
At The Sanctuary, Jasmine Porch and The Ocean Room private dining rooms and restaurant buyouts are available. The hotel also feature indoor and outdoor event spaces.
What is the difference between the Resort Villas and Homes and The Sanctuary?
The villas are condominium style privately owned units that have a living room, dining room, full kitchen and screened-in porch. The Sanctuary is our five-star, five diamond hotel with 255 guestrooms and suites.
What Special Events are happening while our group is at Kiawah Island Golf Resort?
Throughout the year the resort is host to a variety of special event weekends, tournaments and seasonal celebrations. Mingo Point is host to a Lowcountry Oyster Roast and BBQ. The Nature Center offers a variety of evening tours and learning seminars. A complete list of activities can be found on our monthly Calendar of Events.
What else is there to do before/after our meeting?
The Spa at The Sanctuary offers Body Rescues, a collection of body treatments that have been designed to rescue, restore and rejuvenate. A variety of body wraps and massages enhancements for both men and women are available by appointment. Visit The Spa or call the appointment desk: (843) 768-6340.
What are the types of team-building available?
As a standard feature of our program, we like to incorporate your companies mission, values and past meeting themes. Enjoy Nintendo and wii rentals. For the outdoors there are beach games including horseshoes, cornhole, volleyball plus much more.
