12th Annual Friendship Cup Recap

The 3rd time was the charm for our 2018 Friendship Cup Champions – Edward Acosta and Steve Wheeler! This was the third year attending the cup for this “Make Kiawah Great Again” team from North Carolina. They tackled Nicklaus’s Turtle Point and Dye’s Ocean Course coming in -11 overall, with a net team score of 133. Acosta and Wheeler’s win earned them first choice from the prize board donning fantastic trips from all over the country or Southwest air tickets. They also received a trophy, and at the 2018 Friendship Cup, they will stay in the presidential suite at The Sanctuary and be inducted into the Hall of Fame and presented their coveted navy champion’s blazer at the 2019 Friendship Cup.

In addition to a generous amenity bag with Callaway golf balls, Kettle One and Woodford Reserve mini bottles, and an Ahead hat, each attendee also received a pair of Maui Jim or Zeal sunglasses of their choice, and chose a larger gift prior to the tournament that was also available for pick up at registration. The choices included a Callaway driver, wedges or putter/bag package, or a $500 Turtleson voucher to shop online. These gifts along with many other on-course competitions, hospitality suite games and raffles made it easy for everyone to be a winner at the 12th Annual Friendship Cup no matter what their score!

Attendee Jerry Czarnecki proclaimed, “Great fun and a wonderful weekend to share with friends and family in a beautiful place. Easily one of the best events we’ve experienced, so well done. Returning for our 9th year – wouldn’t miss it.”
