Reviews of The Ocean Course
“A Great Golfing Experience”
Played the course 2 weeks after PGA championship. The course was in excellent condition and unbelievably difficult. The caddies were great. If you go to Kiawah, you must play this course at least once. Mark S. Port Washing, New York (TripAdvisor)
“Excellent Course”
If you like playing the top courses this will not disappoint. The course has 10 holes that run along the ocean. The views are excellent and the course is pretty challenging. This is especially true if the wind is blowing. Also remember that in the tees you pick. Don’t pick them based on the yardage alone. Consider the conditions. Maddie, Kernersville, NC (TripAdvisor)
“Kiawah Ocean Golf Course”
The golf course is wonderful and natural with great views of the ocean. The dinner we had at this golf course was very very good and the service was excellent. Their employees are top professionals with a friendly flare! Iscaldwell, Tallahassee, Fl (TripAdvisor)
“Hard but Beautiful”
This was one of the hardest courses I’ve ever played, but it was also one of the prettiest. What made it so hard was the wind. Wow! By the back 9, I was exhausted from just trying to stand up straight. However, it was all worth it. Alice G, Greensboro, NC (TripAdvisor)
“Cannot Wait to Play Again”
I have played a number of PGA courses (Sawgrass, Torrey Pines, Firestone, TPC Louisianna) and this is the best. Everything about the place, the course and the experience is fantastic. Cannot wait to play again. Member: 2011 Golflink.com
“My Wife and I Honeymooned on Kiawah (Both Golfers).”
Played 3x on the island courses and 1x on the Ocean course. Loved how difficult and yet fair the course was. The caddy had great insight and was polite and funny. I can think of no better course nor place to be better taken care of. Member: 2010 Golflink.com
“You Could Play it Everyday and Never Get Bored”
What makes The Ocean Course such a fabulous golf course is that even though it is brutally difficult, it provides so much variety between the wind, tees and pin locations that you could play it everyday and never gets bored. Many golfers who do not find pleasure in the quirk and intricacies that make The Ocean Course often have only a single round on the course, or made the mistake of playing from the wrong tee markers. The Ocean Course is so far and away the best course on the Kiawah Island, don’t waste your time at Turtle, Osprey or Cougar; The Ocean Course has everything a world class golf course should have… they just charge for it! theothersideofgolf.blogspot.com
“Spectacular Holes”
Love him or hate him, Pete Dye usually makes his courses reasonably playable for players of all skill levels, and so long as you don’t go for the hero shot and play the right tees, you can get around this course, enjoy the scenery, and play some pretty spectacular holes. “It Was the Hardest Golf Course I’d Ever Seen”
when we came to play it in ’91 remarked CBS Golf Commentator David Feherty, remembering back to his Ryder Cup appearance in 1991 as a member of the European Ryder Cup Team. David Feherty, CBS Golf
“Dye Has Beaten You Already…”
It’s a typical Dye design in that there are a lot of visually intimidating elements and hazards – deep, nasty pot bunkers, trees in fairways, elevated greens that fall off the seventh level of hell – and you find yourself cowed, playing to safe spots – Dye has beaten you already.
