Easter is a season of feasting to celebrate the end of winter and the renewal of nature that spring ushers in. To celebrate, Kiawah Island Golf Resort presents a great assortment of Easter dining opportunities to joyously observe the season with family and friends.
Begin Easter morning with a brunch buffet at Jasmine Porch. Indulge in Lowcountry favorites like Jasmine Porch’s signature Shrimp and Grits, cured ham and a chilled seafood bar laden with crab claws, oysters and shrimp. If you opt for a lighter breakfast to save room for a big lunch, try Beaches & Cream for pastries and coffee. Call (843) 768-6251 or (843) 768-6330 for Jasmine Porch reservations.
Later, gather for lunch in the Sanctuary Grand Oaks Ballroom with numerous chef’s stations, an extensive seafood buffet and a special children’s buffet. During lunch, the hotel’s pastry team will ceremoniously debut its spring dessert and confectionery menu. Kids will thrill to a special appearance from the Easter Bunny. Or you can opt for meals at two of our clubhouses. The Atlantic Room at The Ocean Course presents a lavish Sunday buffet featuring fresh spring ingredients and special menu items for children. Partake in a treasured Kiawah Island tradition on either the Thursday before or the Monday after Easter by joining the Mingo Point Oyster Roast & Barbecue. Set on a breathtaking bluff on the banks of Kiawah River, Mingo Point allows guests to indulge in a time-honored Lowcountry social tradition. Johns Island born-and-bred M.C. Heyward roasts oysters over an open fire using the same traditional method learned from his father, just as he’s being doing at the resort for more than 40 years. Local band The Island Trio will play dance-worthy tunes, and the nearby open-air pavilion will serve hardwood smoked barbecue to complement the oysters. Chicken, grilled steaks and a plethora of favorite Lowcountry sides round out the menu. Kids will enjoy facepainting and other crafts, and resort naturalists will be on hand to introduce guests to Kiawah’s native wild residence of the furred, feathered and scaled variety. Call (843) 768-2790 to make reservations.
One of our most anticipated children’s events, the Kid’s Triathlon — now known as the Splash and Dash, is a great way to introduce young ones ages 3 to 14 to this increasingly popular competitive sport. The event begins with a carefully supervised swim in the Night Heron Park Pool, followed by a bike-ride on Kiawah’s paved bike paths, and culminating in a run through the park. An activity-filled party awaits at the finish line. Get full details and register online at KiawahKidsTri.com.
Get a meditative and healthy start to spring as you watch the sunrise over the Atlantic during Yoga on the Beach in front of The Sanctuary. No experience or equipment required. Call (843) 768-6001 to reserve your spot.
Bring your own basket to Night Heron Park at 10:00 a.m. for the annual Easter Egg Hunt & Toss, which has become a favorite island tradition. Children are divided up by age group to make the hunt fair for all. The toss immediately follows the hunt, and be sure not to miss a photo opp with the Easter Bunny, who will make a special appearance.
Later in the afternoon at the park, join in making your won tie-dye shirt creation followed by an H2O Egg Hunt in the Night Heron Family Pool, a watery twist on the traditional search. Afterwards, relax in the park with build-your-own ice cream sundaes and Rick Hubbard’s famous kazoo band.
Back on the beach in front of The Sanctuary, competitively creative types can join in our Family Sand Sculpture competition. Plan your design and bring your own sculpting tools, because prizes will be awarded to the best Easter-themed creation.
The spring celebration continues throughout the following week and beyond, with pool games, family cornhole and basketball tournaments, kayak excursions, an improv night, and much more. Visit the resort’s Easter Events page for full details.
