Teen and Youth Activities

 

Teen and Youth Activities are a great way to experience Kiawah and to meet new friends. Activities are held throughout the summer and during all major holidays.

All events take place at Night Heron Park, unless otherwise noted. Youth programs are designed for ages 7-12. Teen programs are designed for ages 13-18. Recreation staff is present, however, youth and teens are not individually supervised. Please note that the following schedule is subject to change. Call (843) 768-6001 for more information.

Sports and Recreation

Admission complimentary unless otherwise noted, Reservations not required. Offerings are seasonal, please visit KiawahActivites.com for our calendar of events or call (843)768-6001. Recreation staff is present; however, youth and teens are not individually supervised. During teen events, please make necessary arrangements for transportation. Night Heron Park closes at 11pm.

Teen Night: Capture the Flag

Teens ages 12-17 come to show your skills at this Glow in the Dark version of Capture the Flag in Night Heron Park! Meet at the stage to be outfitted with your team and take this game to the extreme! Complimentary, no reservations required.

Youth: 3 on 3 Basketball

Come with a team or solo to make some friends. Teams will be divided into age brackets: 7-9 & 10-12. Winning teams of the tournament will receive a prize. Meet at the Night Heron Park Basketball Court. $2 per player. No reservations required.

Teen and Adult: 3 on 3 Basketball

In this tournament, teams will be divided into teen and adult age brackets. Games will be called by a referee. Tournament champions will receive a prize. Meet at the Night Heron Park Basketball Court. $2 per player. No reservations required.

Teen Night: Bonfire

Come hang with other teens on the island around the bonfire in Night Heron Park. Roast some marshmallows and listen to the latest hits while making new friends and enjoy hanging out by the fire. Complimentary, no reservations required.

Archery Tag

Come play the hottest game in the nation! Archery Tag is a fast paced game of aim, accuracy, teamwork, strategy, and FUN! $5/ game or $20 wristband for unlimited play per night. Reservations are not required but time slot sign-up may be necessary based on number of participants. Check in at Night Heron Park Fields. Ages 8+. No reservations required.

Adventure Camp

Take on your own adventure with this camp for ages 8-15. Campers will explore the island and take on kayaking, paddle boarding, SUP games, surfing, Jr. Lifeguard training, motor boat excursions, archery, and MORE! Offered Monday- Friday during the summer, June 4- August 17. Campers travel to Mingo Point and to the beach during camp, space is limited so advanced reservations are required.

 

Teen Outdoor Adventures

Adults must be present to sign kids in and out, before and after the trip. All Nature Tours have a 24-hour cancellation policy. Offerings are seasonal, call the Nature Center at (843)768-6001 for availability and reservations.Recommended ages 13-15, no adults allowed! Adults must sign their child in and out when dropped off and picked up.

Nature Scavenger Hunt!

Test your navigation skills and embark on a scavenger hunt on Kiawah Island by bicycle. Naturalists will guide you to various wild locations where you can use your detective skills and the clues provided to discover and collect nature artifacts. Scavenger hunt winners earn bragging rights and a prize!
$25/person. 2 person minimum. Duration: 2 hours Does NOT include bike rental.

Teen Kayaking

Time for the kids to get out and have an adventure of their own. After some quick tips, it’s time to jump in your own kayak and have some fun on the water. From races in the river to some fun in the pluff mud, you’re sure to make some new friends on this trip!
Seasonal. $55/teen; $50 for KIGR guests and KICA members, 2 person minimum. Duration: 2 hours

Teen Paddleboarding

SUP!? Take the plunge and become a part of the fastest growing water sport on the East Coast. Hand stands, balancing tricks and team paddling are just a few of the fun activities to do on paddleboards while enjoying the view of the salt marsh.
Seasonal. $45/teen; $40/ KIGR & KICA Teens. 2 person minimum. Duration: 1.5 hours
