The PGA Carolinas Section Names A Kiawah Island Golf Pro As President. Josh Wagaman, who serves as head pro at Kiawah Island Golf Resort’s Cougar Point Golf Course begins his two-year term as president this spring.
The Carolina Section is the largest of the PGA of America’s 41 sections and celebrated its centenary last year. The section serves more than 2,300 golf professionals managing more than 700 golf facilities throughout both Carolinas and a portion of Virginia.
Born in Lewisburg, West Virginia, Wagaman joined Kiawah Island Golf Resort in 2008 after earning a B.S., in Business Administration from Methodist University. She served as First Assistant at The Ocean Course and Turtle Point before joining Cougar Point. He is one of only 64 PGA Professionals to have earned certification in all six areas of the PGA Certification program. The PGA awarded him PGA Assistant of the Year in 2011.
Throughout his career at Kiawah Island Golf Resort, Wagaman has demonstrated strong support for veterans and first responders through active involvement with programs such as PGA HOPE, and worked to ensure Cougar Point was one of the first courses in the Carolinas to receive an adaptive cart for veteran who lost the use of their legs. As PGA HOPE Lead, Wagaman established PGA HOPE Kiawah Island at Cougar Point in 2018.
