Haygood Grady Tennis Memorial Tournament Returns to Kiawah Island in May 2026
The Haygood Grady Tennis Memorial Tournament returns to Kiawah Island in May 7–10, 2026, uniting exceptional tennis with a deeply rooted charitable mission. Hosted at the Roy Barth Tennis Center, this distinguished Kiawah Island tennis tournament has become a meaningful tradition within the Charleston tennis community.

Established in 2011 in honor of Prinella Haygood, the tournament reflects her enduring belief in the transformative power of education. An education trust fund was created for her children—just 2 and 6 years old at the time—with the goal of supporting their future college education.

Along the way, the tournament’s mission has grown to honor additional beloved members of the community, including Linwood Grady and Michelle Nemeth. Their legacies further deepen the event’s spirit of remembrance, connection, and purpose.
Proceeds from the tournament continue to support the Haygood education trust while also benefiting Roper St. Francis Cancer Care, The Lonon Foundation, and MUSC Health ALS Clinic—the state’s first and only program recognized by the ALS Association as a Certified Treatment Center of Excellence. Together, these partnerships extend the tournament’s impact far beyond the court.

Across Kiawah Island’s renowned clay courts, players will compete in singles, doubles, and mixed divisions, with the Men’s Open Singles event offering prize money and drawing a high level of play. Yet, the true spirit of the tournament lies not only in competition, but in the shared purpose that brings players and spectators together for a worthy cause.
The weekend’s signature dinner and auction on Saturday evening offers a moment to gather, reflect, and give back—an embodiment of the generosity and connection that define the event.
For those seeking a premier tennis experience on Kiawah Island, the Haygood Grady Tennis Memorial Tournament offers something rare: the opportunity to engage in the sport at a high level while contributing to causes that truly matter. As the tournament continues to grow, so too does its legacy of impact, remembrance, and community.
