Family Activities at Kiawah

Fun for the whole family! All activities take place at the Night Heron Park. No reservations necessary unless otherwise noted.

Disc Golf at Night Heron Park!

Visit Night Heron Park to check out our 9 hole Disc Golf course! Fun for the whole family, stop inside the Nature Center to rent discs and head out to the first tee to give the course a try. If you want to learn a little more about the sport, or some basic skills to play, our experienced staff also gives lessons! We will teach you numerous throw techniques and some strategy to master our course. Call the Nature Center for more information or to sign up at (843) 768-6001 or ext. 86001. Ages 6 and up recommended.


Family Crafts are held at the Night Heron Park Pavilion. Fun for all ages! No reservations required. For additional craft options, please check out the Turtles’ Nest Art Studio.

Gel Candles

Bring your beach treasures and Kiawah sand, or use ours, to design a gel candle that will remind you of your beach vacation! $15-$20


Create a traditional Kiawah logo Tye-Dye T-shirt! Choose from any of our bright, rainbow spectrum colors to make your shirt unique. $17

Stuffed Animal Factory

Select, stuff and dress-up your own furry friend to remind you of your time spent on Kiawah. A great companion for long car rides or flights home! $20-$30

Sharks Tooth and Shell Necklaces

Create your own sharks tooth or shell necklace. Pick your pendant, beads and cord to make a necklace of your own design. $15+

Pick-Up Games

Held Daily, 2pm-3pm

  • Sundays: GaGa Ball
  • Mondays & Fridays: Soccer
  • Tuesdays and Thursdays: Volleyball
  • Saturdays: Basketball

Families are welcome to stop by for pick-up games every afternoon. These unsupervised games will take place in Night Heron Park at their respective field or court. Remember to bring your game ball! The Heron Park Nature Center has a supply of sports balls they can lend. Complimentary.

Kiawah Island Map Hunt

Wednesdays and Fridays, March 1 – May 31
Course: between 5 – 6.5 miles. Time: 2.5 – 3 hours. 9am.

Want to explore and learn more about Kiawah Island, but don’t know where to go? Our map hunt will take you around to some of the best places on the island using your smartphone! The course is between 5-6.5 miles and will take approximately 2.5-3 hours. Recommended for ages 8+ This event is unsupervised. $25 per group. Bike rentals are not included. Reservatons required.
