Mingo Point is a unique spot situated between gorgeous views of the salt marsh along the Kiawah River and the maritime forest of Kiawah Island. Join a naturalist on this 1-hour birding tour to get a taste of the great birds Kiawah Island has to offer all in one place, from flocks of singing red-wing blackbirds to wood storks and egrets wading in the pluff mud along the edge of the marsh.

From vibrant warblers to majestic birds of prey, the Lowcountry of South Carolina is famous for its diversity of birds during all seasons. We’ll use the van to reach several remote island habitats to seek out dozens of bird species, both large and small, and learn about the natural history of our avian wildlife. If you are new to birding, join us on a Birding for Beginners walking tour.
Our van tours are a great way to get out and about on the island with a Naturalist. The van will take us to various locations, where we’ll disembark and explore each area. Putting Contest

Join us for a fun-filled and exciting putting competition designed just for kids. This friendly event is all about having fun, improving your putting skills, and enjoying the game of golf. This is a 1v1 single elimination bracket competition where each player will have 5 putts each. The player who makes the most amount of putts wins and moves onto the next round.

The competition is fierce! It’s the goofiest battle you’ve ever been a part of. Bring the whole crew and test your quick wit and brain power with this interactive activity for the entire family. It’s trivia meets scavenger hunt in this zany game show where everyone gets involved.

Family Kayaking
10am – 12pm and 1:30 – 3pm
Bring the whole family along and experience the unique coastal habitat of the Kiawah River! Lead by a professional Naturalist, you and your family can learn all about the beautiful ecology of our tidal estuary from the comfort of a tandem boat. There is so much to see! Be sure to look out for dolphins, birds, and even bobcats as your Naturalist guides you through your curiosities!
Participants must be 3 years old or older. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. No experience needed. $65/person. Resort guests and KICA Members: $60/person. Alligator Adventure
12- 2pm
From tiny hatchlings to imposing adults, Kiawah is in no short supply of the American Alligator. This Naturalist guided van tour is a fantastic way to safely observe and learn about these amazing, and often misunderstood, animals in their natural habitat. Equipped with binoculars, you and your family will disembark from Night Heron Park and travel to our favorite alligator hang outs. While we will spend some time in the van, walking will be involved at each location.
