Escape Box Experience: Lowcountry Investigator

If you’re looking for a program you can really sink your teeth into, sign up for our tabletop escape experience! You will be tasked with using fun and factual information about alligators posted around the room to solve a series of clues provided at your team table. Do you have what it takes to chomp down on the solution that will get you into the naturalist’s locked case before time is up?

Bring the family out to the Sanctuary Beach Access and create your best sand sculpture. Prizes are awarded to the top three teams that demonstrate the most creativity and best presentation of their masterpiece. A limited amount of shovels and buckets will be available for families to use.

Shelling Expedition

SC’s beautiful coastal ecosystem provides a variety of unique and interesting marine mollusks. Accessible only by boat, explore remote barrier island known for its abundance of shells. Important to our delicate coastline, we encourage photographs and apply shell-collecting limits to help conserve the beach and its inhabitants for future generations.

What happens if you put all of your eggs in one basket? “Wooden” you like to find out at our egg decorating workshop! Yoga on the Beach
8 – 9am | Sanctuary Beach Access
Hatha yoga with a blend of slow to moderate pace vinyasa and longer held restorative poses. We work at a beginner to intermediate level and focus on using breath to create body awareness, calm the mind, and build strength and flexibility all while taking in the beauty of the beach. Previous yoga experience is not required.

Birding for Beginners
8:30 – 10am
Are you interested in the intriguing world of birding? Join a Naturalist to learn the basics of birding and discover the natural beauty of Kiawah. You will explore various types of habitats to learn which birds are found where and what to look for when identifying each species.

Pirate Escape Boat (fully committed)
12 – 4pm | Night Heron Park
Arrrgh you ready for a mem-arr-ble experience? Well step aboard the Flying Dutchman’s 10 minute escape room. Families “set sail” solving clues and riddles to break the Dutchman’s curse and escape the ship. Sign up for a voyage at the captain’s barrel at Night Heron Park to receive your escape room time. We will notify you when you are on deck! Try your hand at the Captain’s Challenges outside the ship at any time!

Island Idol

Island Idol is back and ready to hear all the talent Kiawah has to offer! Step onto the Night Heron Park Stage to wow the audience with your favorite songs!

From tiny hummingbirds and vibrant warblers to majestic birds of prey, the Lowcountry of South Carolina is famous for its diversity of birds during all seasons. We will use our van to reach several remote island habitats to seek out dozens of bird species and learn about the natural history of our avian wildlife.

Shelling Expedition
11am – 1pm | Sanctuary Beach Access
SC’s beautiful coastal ecosystem provides a variety of unique and interesting marine mollusks. Accessible only by boat, explore remote barrier island known for its abundance of shells. Important to our delicate coastline, we encourage photographs and apply shell-collecting limits to help conserve the beach and its inhabitants for future generations.

Gator Walk (fully committed)
