The Sanctuary Earns Forbes Travel Guide Five Star Award

The Sanctuary

For the twelfth year in a row, the Forbes Travel Guide awarded The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort with their highest rating — Five Stars. The Sanctuary remains South Carolina’s only Forbes Five Star property.

The Forbes Travel Guide also recognized The Spa at The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort with Five Stars for the twelfth year in a row, making it the only Five Star spa in South Carolina and among an elite

“It is an honor to receive these distinguished and coveted awards,” said Bill Lacey, General Manager of The Sanctuary at Kiawah Island Golf Resort. “To win them year after year is a tremendous credit to our staff who has continued to maintain the highest standards of service making The Sanctuary one of the finest destinations in the world.”

In order to earn Five Star status, select hotels noted for their service, decor and amenities receive unannounced visits from well-trained Forbes Travel Guide shoppers posing as regular guests. Those shoppers evaluate each area and service of the property based on a strict set of criteria and score it on a sliding scale of 100. While Forbes Travel Guide closely guards the scores of individual properties, Five Star status is only aware to properties performing an average of at least 90. Every detail of the stay is “shopped,” from arrival to departure.

For The Sanctuary and The Spa at The Sanctuary to perennially earn this award represents a remarkable achievement by the hotel’s dedicated and well-trained staff.
