August – The Sunday of Summer…

August – the Sunday of Summer…

Sunday, the beginning of the end of the best season of the year, summer.
August means two things…1. Summer is almost over and 2. Fall is just around the corner.

If you are visiting us in the heat of the season, here are some culinary events you do not want to miss!!

Jasmine Porch’s Jazz Brunch
Each Sunday, islanders gather for Chef Ryley McGillis’ Signature Brunch highlighted by sumptuous offerings and sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean. This long standing Kiawah Island tradition features a collection of seafood specialties, house-made charcuterie and other unique Chef crafted items. Chilled champagne mimosas and lively music perfectly complete your remarkable weekend experience.

Mingo Point Oyster Roast & BBQ
Mingo Point is the perfect kickoff to your family’s vacation! Enjoy an authentic Lowcountry experience at Kiawah’s most popular family outing. A riverside oyster roast, an all-you-can-eat buffet of Southern BBQ specialties, live entertainment from The Island Trio, a kid’s “cool-zone” featuring hair braiding, a design-your-own beach bag station and a kid friendly buffet, Kiawah’s Naturalists presenting live reptiles and gators, and a local artisan craft market…this isn’t your typical backyard oyster roast, this is an event!

Mingo Point’s Cooking Demo & Dining Experience
Join Resort Banquet Sous Chef, Chris Bushneck at the scenic Mingo Point for a lively Lowcountry cooking demonstration in his wood fired kitchen. Chef will demonstrate the art of “grit making” an important step in the creation of our southern favorite, Shrimp & Grits. Participants will be taught how to catch shrimp from the river with a cast net and finish with detailed instruction on how to prepare foods in a wood fired oven. The Southern inspired dishes demonstrated will then be enjoyed by the participants with their choice of beverage and stunning views of the Kiawah River and marshes.

The Ocean Room at The Sanctuary invites you to enjoy Dining at Dusk, an opportunity to enjoy Chef Jason Rheinwald’s seasonal 3-course menu while enjoying an exquisite ocean view.
