#TomatoTrek sweeps the Lowcountry!


Limehouse Produce has started their #TomatoTrek for the 2014 summer season and a few of our favorite Kiawah restaurants are participating!

In celebration of the Heirloom Tomato season, Limehouse Produce brought back the #TomatoTrek  contest. The trek is set from June 16th until July 12th and is driven to build support and awareness for popular produce. Chefs and bartenders of the lowcountry were welcomed to sign up and compete in this four week contest. Within the list of restaurants competing, Kiawah is proud to support three of our favorite restaurants.

Jasmine Caprese Salad blog

Jasmine Porch at The Sanctuary has brought to the table their Jasmine Caprese Salad which features Charleston Heirlooms, Marinated Tomini, Pickled Chilies with Bulls Bay Smoked Sea Salt and Sunflower Pesto. This delicious summer dish is available on Jasmine Porch’s lunch and dinner menu.

 Nonna Tomatoes blog

Tomasso at Turtle Point shows their true Italian side with their dish, Nonna’s Tomatoes. Chef Williams wanted to provide a more comfort dish rather than a typical seasonal tomato salad. The word Nonna means grandmother in Italian makes this hearty yet healthy meal feel right at home.

 The Burrata blog

The Ocean Room at The Sanctuary highlights the gorgeous heirloom tomatoes by pairing them with Burrata cheese. Burrata is a fresh Italian cheese which is made from mozzarella and cream. In this dish you’ll find heirloom tomatoes, micro basil, basil oil and aged balsamic vinegar.
