Hartford Family Winery paired with Kiawah’s Beverage Series

 Thursday night was one of those, ‘if you’re here, your family’ kind of evenings as The Ocean Room celebrated the Kiawah Beverage Series for May with a Hartford Family Winery Dinner.

Hartford Family Winery is a family-owned winery located in the Russian River area of Sonoma County. The winery specializes in single-vineyard Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and old vine Zinfandel. The wines produced express the character of their unique vineyards.

The evening was teed up for a beautiful Spring inspired four course menu with a fleet of incredible family wines. Tom Rozner, Vice President of Hartford Family Winery was present to walk our guests through the wines and the idea of the lineup. During the reception guests sipped on the 2007 Hartford Court ‘Laura’s’ Chardonnay, Russian River Valley which were paired with three yummy tastings of Sous Chef Kyle Bowling’s special appetizers: Spring Garden (roasted candy beets, chard, purple carrots, fava bean and mint pistou dressed with local flowers), Frites and Bearnaise (a take on pom frites and hollandaise sauce) as well as the Shrimp Toast.

First course was set up with a 2009 Hartford Court “Stone Cote Vineyard” Chardonnay, Sonoma Coast. This wine’s silky texture and long finish was perfectly paired with the Tuna Conserva with field peas and beans, black truffle and fines herbs.

Second course began with a 2006 Hartford Court “Seascape Vineyard” Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast. For this Chef Jay prepared a Chicken Roulade that featured purple potatoes from Dirt Works Farms, baby leeks and charred leek jus.

The third course brought our new family a 2009 Hartford “Fanucchi-Wood Road Vineyard” Zinfandel, Russian River Valley. Bringing the West to the East was our Lobster American “En Croute” with Main Lobster, Holy City Tomatoes.

Lastly, everyone enjoyed a beautiful and fruitful finale. The 2009 Hartford Court “Land’s Edge Vineyards” Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast had a complex aroma of cherries and black berries that is complemented with coffee notes. Pastry Chef Michael prepared a creative Chocolate and Cherries dessert. This play on jello and pudding was a solid finish to what was a very entertaining evening with the Hartford Family Winery.
