JetBlue Lands in Charleston in 2013

JetBlue coming to Charleston – some great news for those of you who live in the North East …

JetBlue held a press conference today at the Charleston International Airport to announce that it will start a new service connecting Boston and New York City to Charleston. Twice daily nonstop service to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) and one daily flight to Boston Logan International (BOS) will begin Thursday, February 28, 2013.

The new routes will be operated with JetBlue’s fleet of Embraer E190s. Service aboard the 100-seat aircraft includes free and unlimited snacks and drinks, over 140 channels of free live television and radio at every seatback, and assigned leather seating in rows with no middle seat. Passengers will also get their first checked bag free.

“This is great news for those who want to visit Charleston, one of the premier tourist destinations in the world,” said U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham. “I made it clear in my conversations with JetBlue that not only is Charleston a wonderful destination, it is also a great place to do business. JetBlue’s decision to come to Charleston is a win-win for the local community and the company. We are all very happy to welcome them to Charleston.”

“This is great news for Charleston and the entire Lowcountry,” said U.S. Rep. Tim Scott. “The historic streets of the Holy City have attracted visitors for generations, and our world class beaches, golf courses and restaurants offer an experience you just can’t get anywhere else. We look forward to welcoming more folks down to Charleston on JetBlue for some good old fashioned Southern hospitality, be it for a business trip or family vacation.”

A special thanks to the combined efforts of The Charleston Area Convention Center and Visitors Bureau, Charleston County Aviation Authority, and the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce who helped attract the airline to the region.
