Luke Bielawski goes from Tee to Shining Tee

Luke interviewed by local and national news stations following his completing his cross-country journey – tee to shining tee!

Luke Bielawski has gone from from Tee to Shining Tee.  His golf course was 5,078,382 yards (2,928 miles).  He lost 5,540 golf balls over a stretch of 93 days traveling from the beach at Ventura, California on May 17th and finishing on the shores of Kiawah Island’s The Ocean Course on August 10th.  It took 46,805 strokes (with penalties to cross the entire United States all to raise money for charity.

Get On The Green fundraised for Providence Cristo Rey High School, a Catholic, coeducational, college-preparatory secondary school serving Indianapolis. The school offers a transforming educational experience to students with economic needs.

Along the way, he was interviewed by the CBS Evening News (See Segment here), met with President George W. Bush, ran into an irate long-distance runner who slowed his forward progress, saw the country and made friends all across the country before hitting this ceremonial final (biodegradable) ball into the Atlantic Ocean on the shores of Kiawah Island, adjacent to The Ocean Course.  Following interviews with local and network reporters and a quick lunch at the Ryder Cup Bar, Luke and his family finished their journey with a round on The Ocean Course.

This note was from Luke’s father after their round:

Following an incredibly memorable day Saturday, that capped off over 90 days of exhaustion, Luke and his team could think of nothing more welcoming than their own beds. We awoke Sunday morning, drove all day to Indianapolis, arriving after 1:00am and slept very, very well!

I am truly at a loss for words, Mike (and that doesn’t happen often!). The facilities, golf course conditions, golf outing, media coverage, amazing hospitality and resident interest was truly humbling. The course was spectacular!

The Bielawski family unanimously decided that Kiawah Island will be one of our next family golf vacation spots. We look forward to our next visit, a more relaxed one, full of golf and rest.

We will be posting photos/video of the occasion on Luke’s website.

Once again, you and the Kiawah Island Golf Resort were amazing and provided not only Luke but the entire GetontheGreen team and supporters with memories of a lifetime! Thank you so very much!
