The PGA Championship is nearly upon us. Here are some views of the preparation:
Where do you want to go for the best pre-football tailgate party anywhere in America? No. 17 at The Ocean Course during PGA week. It’ll be some of the best food, people watching and golf anywhere!
Here’s the view from the bleachers on what should be one of the most exciting holes of the championship, No. 12. Why? Because, plans are to make this a driveable Par-4 sometime during the week. Beware the fairway tilts toward the water and the green is vary narrow. Plenty of things can go right or very wrong here.
From the back tee, the 14th green looks like a postage stamp. That’s because this par three will play at 238 yards. During the final day of the Ryder Cup, not one of the players were able to hold this green. And, this is the hole that changed the course of the 2007 Senior PGA Championship. Should be a lot of excitement here as well.
This is the view from the bleachers on No. 16. Plenty of cool ocean breezed on a warm summer day. Turn you head left and you can watch the 17th hole as well. A great location!
This is the view the players will face on the 17th hole, the hardest hole on the course during the Senior PGA. They were playing it from 170 yards then. This year, the tee is scheduled to be at 223 yards! What could possibly go wrong?
This will be the view of the pros for their second shot on No. 18. Pete Dye moved the tee back and closer to the ocean so they player’s can’t cut the corner to hit the down slope. This will leave them with a 200+ shot into the green.
For those lucky enough to have Wanamaker tickets, that will get you into this HUGE hospitality area on the back of the driving range (near the 9th hole). This picture only shows about 2/3 of the facility. Air conditioning, food, drink and tons of TVs so you won’t miss any of the action.
You won’t get lost on The Ocean Course…. We look forward to an EPIC event! See you there!
