Kiawah's Exciting Island-Wide Expansion

Since we welcomed our first guests in 1976, Kiawah Island Golf Resort’s mission has always been to provide each guest with an unparalleled experience through our caring, gracious service—in the tradition of genuine southern hospitality—and through world-class amenities and facilities. True to that spirit, we fully renovated all five of our championship golf courses and are now in the midst of an island-wide expansion, adding a collection of stunning new resort buildings and improvements that will further enhance our already exceptional offerings. Here’s a timeline of what to watch for…

Roy Barth Tennis Center
With 10 new Har-Tru courts and the resurfacing of 12 existing courts, the expanded Roy Barth Tennis Center will feature a total of 22 courts to serve as the home base for the resort’s award-winning tennis instruction and for guests to fully enjoy the game they love. All of the new courts will benefit from HydroCourt technology, which keeps the clay consistently hydrated throughout the day, improving the playing surface and also conserving water. To add greater flexibility to the resort's already world-class tennis programs, a total of 10 courts will also be lit, including nine clay and one hard, with another four courts lined for pickleball.
Cougar Point Clubhouse
Once this Gary Player-designed course renovation was completed in 2017, plans turned to the clubhouse to elevate the complete golf experience. Situated on a prominent knoll overlooking the 18th hole, this reimagination of the classic clubhouse will be the perfect venue for pre-round preparation and post-round relaxation and entertaining with a full-service pro shop & locker rooms, plus a 125-seat sports tavern and 40-seat bar.
The Sanctuary Chapel
With seating for 150, this new chapel will offer weekly non-denominational services and serve as yet another resort wedding venue.
West Beach Conference Center
The all-new West Beach Village Conference Center, designed by the world-renowned Robert A.M. Stern Architects, will offer over 23,000 square feet of pre-event and state-of-the-art meeting space, including a 10,000 square-foot core space divisible by air-walls into six sub-units and 11 breakout rooms.
West Beach Villa Check-In
To ensure a swift and seamless registration process for our villa guests, we are building a brand-new facility—also designed by Robert A.M. Stern Architects—situated in our conveniently located West Beach Village, just steps from the new conference center and all the restaurants and amenities at Cougar Point Clubhouse.
The Ocean Course Cottages
Four new two-story, four-bedroom vacation cottages just steps from The Ocean Course Clubhouse with commanding views of this iconic golf course.
Mingo Point Wildlife
Night Heron Park
This family favorite is getting a complete renovation to double the existing program space of the Nature Center as well as getting a new activities pavilion, art center, fitness center and dining outlet. The new Night Heron Park will be a true go-to entertainment complex.
